Wild Slots

Some machines have a symbol which is wild, meaning that symbol can substitute for any of its cousins. A good example is the Double Diamond Slot Machine. It can be played with nickels, quarters, or dollars. In exclusive VIP rooms it is common to find the 5, 25, 100, and even 500 variety. It can be found in both the two coin and three coin versions. The only difference between the two coin and three coin games is that on the three coin games the button says Play 3 Coins instead of Play 2 Coins, Lower pay-offs start with cherries. Then the pay outs move up the scale with bars (singles, doubles and triples), then up to red 7's. So cherries, a variety of bars, and red 7's. But the key to the game is the other symbol, the one for which the game is named. It is somewhat oval in shape and twin diamonds are displayed within its boundaries. If you manage to line up three of them on the Pay Line, the pay-off is 800 for one coin,1,600 for two coins, and 2,500 for three coins. In addition, this Double Diamond symbol serves as both a "wild" symbol and a 2X multiplier. If, for example, you had this symbol on the first reel and a pair of triple bars on the middle and right-side reels, then the machine reads it as another triple bar and you collect twice the pay out for three triple bars. If the pay-off, depending on whether you played one, two, or three coins or credits, for three triple bars is 40/80/120, then you will collect either 80 coins or 160 or 240.

Three of those big, beautiful red 7's ordinarily returns either 80,160,or 240 coins. But if you catch them in any two of the positions and a Double Diamond in the other, you will be paid either 160,320 or 480. And it gets even better.

Whenever you have two of the Double Diamond symbols on the center line, they are both wild, and they become a 4X multiplier. You've probably already got this figured out, but here's an example, anyway. You catch twin Double Diamonds and a double bar. Normal pay-off would be either 25,50,or 75. But you've got three coins in and twin Double Diamonds on the Pay Line with that double bar, so your pay-out is four times the normal. You would collect 300 coins.

If you think wild cards and multipliers sound interesting, seek out the 5X and 10X machines now in vogue. Same idea as with Double Diamonds. Except that if you get a 5X symbol as part of a winning combination it increases the pay off by five times. If the winner would have paid 50 coins without the 5X symbol it will pay 250 with it. Two 5X symbols as part of a winning combination increases the pay-off by 5 times=25X. If the winner would have paid 50 coins without the two 5X symbols it will pay 1,250 with them.

The 10X machines work exactly the same way. One 10X symbol as part of a winning combination in creases the pay-off by ten times. If the winner would have paid 50 coins without the 10X symbol it will pay 500 with it. Two 10X symbols as part of a winning combination increases the pay-off by 10 times 10=100X. If the winner would have paid 50 coins without the two 10X symbols it will pay 5,000 with them.
